Hit & Run Felony

MO:  On Sunday, May 04, 2014, at approximately 9:40 A.M. in Mission area, a white vehicle with black rims and tinted windows, traveling north-bound in the #1 lane on Sepulveda Blvd stopped for a red phase tri-light at the intersection of Devonshire St.  With a break in east/west traffic and against a solid red tri-light, the driver accelerated through the intersection in between the traffic.  The vehicle then collided into a bicyclist traveling west bound on the north side of the intersection.  The driver did not stop and continued north bound.  The Victim was transported to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition.

On Wednesday, January 29, 2014 Homicide Detectives held a press conference at Sheriff’s Headquarters seeking the public’s assistance in obtaining any information pertaining to the whereabouts of 54-year-old murder suspect Oscar Bridges. Suspect Oscar Bridges is wanted in connection for the stabbing death of 21-year-old Victim Robert Brewer of Texas that occurred on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 10:40 am in a motel room at the 10400 Block of South Vermont Avenue, unincorporated Los Angeles. Victim Robert Brewer suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspect Oscar Bridges, a.k.a “Rick” is described as a male black, 6’2, 180 pounds, black dreadlock hair style, brown eyes and is known to frequent motels in the Hollywood/West Hollywood areas and ties to Arizona. He is considered armed and dangerous with an extensive criminal record and is a registered sex offender.

The suspect pictured above entered the store carrying a black tote bag and walked behind the counter. The suspect retrieved a black revolver from the bag, pointed it at the clerk and demanded money.

After the clerk handed over the money from the register, the suspect asked the clerk to give him Marlboro Reds. The clerk placed several cartons of cigarettes in the black bag. As the suspect walked away, he told the clerk not to call police. The suspect fled on foot across the street and out of sight.

Summary:

Suspects entered the store together. While Suspect 1 went to the front register to ask for a pack or batteries, Suspect 2 walked directly to the rear refrigerator. Suspect 1 retrieved a black semi-auto pistol, pointed it at victim and in Spanish demanded all the money. The victim provided the money from the cash register which Suspect 1 took. Suspect 1 then demanded money from victim’s pockets. Both suspects ran out of the store, with Suspect 2 carrying a stolen 12 pack of beer. Suspects were last seen traveling Northbound Indiana Street in a red 4 door vehicle.

Loss: $100,000 in yellow and white gold bridal ring sets. Sets contained numerous diamonds on each ring.

Crime Summary: On 5/14, the suspect walked into the location requesting to look at a ring set. The employee asked the suspect for photo identification, and the suspect stated he left it in his car. The suspect then pulled out a handgun, placed it against the victim’s temple and ordered her to open the display case. The suspect pulled out a bag from his pocket and told her to fill it up. The suspect then left the location on foot and entered a grey vehicle.

On Sunday July 29, 2012, at approximately 2:15 am, officers responded to a radio call of shots fired in the 1000 block of S. Osage Avenue in the City of Inglewood. When the officers arrived they found the victim, Sergio Velez Jr., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and he died at the scene.  Mr. Velez was confined to a wheelchair and was not able to flee from the area prior to the shooting.

ON 4/14/2013 AT 0805 HOURS, THE VICTIM WAS WALKING EAST ON CIENEGA AVE NEAR TREANOR AVE, COVINA WHEN THE SUSPECT RAN UP TO THE VICTIM FROM BEHIND AND GRABBED HER SHOULDER. HE THEN PUSHED HER BACK TO A CEMENT WALL.

 

THE SUSPECT BEGAN STRIKING THE VICTIM IN THE HEAD/FACE AREA WITH HIS FISTS. THE FORCE OF THE STIKES CAUSED HER TO FALL TO THE GROUND.

WHILE ON THE GROUND, THE SUSPECT KICKED HER AND SHE CURLED UP INTO A BALL TO PROTECT HER PREGNANCY. AT THIS POINT THE VICTIM YELLED “I’M PREGNANT.” THE SUSPECT STOPPED KICKING THE VICTIM AND RAN WEST BOUND.

 

SUSPECT: M/H, DARK CLOSE SHAVED HEAD, 506-508, 130-150, 23-25 YRS OLD.

 

WEARS DARK COLORED, THICK RIMMED GLASSES.

 

THERE HAVE BEEN FOUR ADDITIONAL INCIDENTS IN THE AREA AND ARE POSSIBLY BEING COMMITTED BY THE SAME SUSPECT. SOME OF THE INCIDENTS INVOLVE SEXUALLY GROPING THE VICTIM.

A black SUV parked in the far end of the parking lot at location, with its lights off, facing the front doors, for a period of time. When the majority of customers had exited, the vehicle sped to the front and the suspects exited it and entered the store. While the first suspect robbed the cashier at gunpoint, the second held the last customer at bay with a crowbar. The suspects returned to the SUV and were last seen eastbound on Sheila Street until out of view.
